In its fourth year, PQM+ worked in 25 countries to sustainably strengthen health systems and medical product quality across the globe. Funded by USAID, the PQM+ program provides technical assistance to regulatory authorities, national quality control laboratories, and local pharmaceutical manufacturers to expand the supply and improve the quality of essential medical products. This includes those used to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and COVID-19, and address reproductive health and maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH).
Highlights
PY4 highlights include:
- Supporting 64 regulatory policies to strengthen medicines quality;
- Assisting 6 laboratories to achieve first-time ISO accreditation or WHO prequalification;
- Supporting 37 pharmaceutical manufacturers in 12 countries on 47 medical product applications for medicines, vaccines, and medical devices; and
- Developing a continental framework, African National Control Laboratories – Reliance Network, to establish and manage a group of African national quality control laboratories to support vaccine production across Africa.
