For the past three years, PQM+ has helped to improve medical product quality systems in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. PQM+ has also provided technical assistance to dozens of manufacturers of priority health products. By strengthening health systems, PQM+ is helping expand access to quality medical products used to prevent or respond to diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases, COVID-19, and other infectious diseases as well as improving maternal, newborn and child health.
Program Year 3 (PY3) highlights include:
- Improving 66 policies and guidelines across 14 countries and 8 regulatory functions.
- Supporting 31 laboratories to make progress toward global accreditation, including WHO prequalification and ISO 17025:2017.
- Strengthening the capacity of several national medicines regulatory authorities (NMRAs), contributing to two countries, Ghana and Nigeria, achieving WHO Maturity Level 3.
- Supporting 37 pharmaceutical manufacturers from 11 countries.
